Current wording of UN R79 prevents the approval of positive steering of trailers using energy supply and electrical control from the towing vehicle because standards applicable to energy supply connectors and digital information interchange have not been established.

At the 74th GRRF session, CLCCR presented document GRRF-74-37 which noted that a design restriction in UN R79 prevents trailers from using energy from a towing vehicle. Following discussion, a number of delegates indicated their support for an amendment to remove this restriction and enable the use of new technologies.

CLCCR recommendation to establish an expert group to further consider the German proposal to raise rear underrun protection device (RUPD) requirements. CLCCR raises concerns over the cost-benefit and in particular, over the relative effectiveness of higher requirements across the range of vehicle categories that would be affected.

Series of proposals to revise the positioning specifications for direction indicators, marker lamps, and reflectors on trailers (O category) and to make clarifications.
