Information document submitted by the informal group on Complex Electronic Systems concerning work on clarifying Annex 6 of UN R79, especially with regard to the assessment of automated steering systems. A revision to paper, based upon a further meeting of the informal group, will be provided to GRRF-84. Draft amendment to UN R79, including provisions for emergency steering functions (ESF), Category C[1] ACSF for lane-change maneuvers, and updating of Complex Electronic Systems (CEL) Annex 6 provisions. This document was prepared during the 84th GRRF session for consideration during the special 85th GRRF scheduled to finalize a proposal for automated lane-change systems.
