Proposal for Supplement 19 to Regulation No. 50

Proposal to - insert provisions for the use of incandescent light sources in the case of light source modules and lamps with non-replaceable light sources,
- reference the compliance requirements for installation contained in Regulations Nos. 48, 53, 72 and 86,
- clarify the definition of “type”, with regard to manufacturer, trade names and marks,
- introduce editorial improvements to the requirements for markings,and
- remove the requirement to indicate the rated wattage in the marking of lamps equipped with electronic light source control gear and/or non-replaceable light sources and/or light source module(s).
This proposal consolidates UN R50 prior to its being superseded by new regulatory texts (forward lighting, light-signalling, and retro-reflective devices) under the Simplification of Lighting Regulations program.

This proposal (WP.29/2017/28) was adopted by the World Forum. Thirty-seven Contracting Parties out of the 47 applying UN R50 were present for the vote by AC.1. Thirty-seven voted in favor with zero against and zero abstaining.
