129. The representative of Japan reported on the activities of the IWG on Acceleration Control for Pedal Error (ACPE) at its last session, held on 24-26 February 2026. He highlighted that the group examined various aspects of the performance of these systems, while taking into account the importance of not increasing false positives, as well as data on realworld conditions, collision numbers and their severity. The representative of Canada welcomed the recent progress achieved by the group in line with the revised work plan. He emphasized that the research plan under development would be successful only with the engagement of Contracting Parties (noting the recent participation of Norway, which shared data with the group) and industry.
