19. The representative of Germany proposed (GRVA-23-04) to reinstate in UN Regulation No. 157 on Automated Lane Keeping System (ALKS) the obligation for a granting Type-Approval Authority to inform each other Contracting Party (respectively the Type-Approval Authority) before issuing the Type-Approval for which the manufacturer has expressed the intention to introduce ALKS in that country and has therefore provided evidence of compliance with the relevant national traffic rules (according to Annex 1-Appendix 2). The delegations noted similar discussions under agenda item 4(a) and agreed to resume discussion on this issue at the January 2026 session.
32. The representative of Germany recalled the purpose of GRVA-23-04 and expressed interest in reviewing the finalized corresponding text in the UN Regulation on ADS before further developing the proposal. He presented a revised proposal (GRVA-24-42/Rev.1), which received comments. GRVA agreed to resume consideration of this agenda item at its next session on the basis of an official document that the representative of Germany agreed to prepare.
