Depositary notifications published for WP.29 proposals adopted in November

23 December 2016

The office of the UN Secretary General has issued depositary notifications for the proposals adopted during the November 2016 World Forum session. Absent the requisite number of objections, these proposals will enter into force from 22 June 2017.

The adopted measures include five new series of amendments and 26 supplements to current series regulations. Signed-in users can find more information and download the adopted proposals from the “Depositary Notifications” section on the respective GAR regulation pages.

New series of amendments

The 07 series of amendments to Regulation No. 16 (Safety-belt systems) adds a requirement for rear position seat-belt reminders.

The 04 series of amendments to Regulation No. 78 (Motorcycle braking) limits ABS deactivation and allows for exemptions for off-road motorcycles.

The 01 series of amendments to Regulation No. 86 (Agricultural tractor lighting) resulted from an informal expert group update of the regulation, including new geometric visibility provisions and a new annex on signaling panels and signaling foils.

The 06 series of amendments to Regulation No. 105 (ADR vehicles) updates the regulation in line with the 2017 edition of the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR).

The 02 series of amendments to Regulation No. 129 (Enhanced CRS) introduces provisions for the approval of non-integral I-Size booster seats with backrests for children up to 135 cm stature. (Related to the 02 series, Supplement 12 to UN R44 terminates all ISOFIX CRS approvals under that regulation from September 2017, effectively concentrating these approvals exclusively under the newer UN R129.)
