Australia adopts UN mirror, lighting, and glazing regulations

29 April 2016

On April 24, Australia notified the United Nations of its decision to apply UN Regulation Nos. 43, 46, and 48 corresponding respectively to the regulations on safety glazing, indirect vision (rear-view mirrors and camera-monitor systems), and the installation of lighting equipment. As such, Australia will accept type approvals granted under these regulations within the framework of the 1958 Agreement. The decisions are in line with Australia’s ongoing process of aligning its domestic requirements with harmonized international regulations. Per the UN administrative procedures, the Australian decision will enter into force from 24 June 2016.
