On October 1, Japan notified the United Nations of its decision to apply UN Regulation No. 117 (approval of tires with regard to noise, wet adhesion, and rolling resistance) under its national law. In accordance with the 1958 Agreement, this decision will enter into force from November 30. From that date, Japan will issue and accept type approvals under the international mutual recognition system.
