Proposal to delete the requirement for automatic leveling devices for all headlamps with light emitting diode (LED) light sources based upon the results of the GTB glare study. The proposal argues that the restriction discriminates against LED light sources based upon an erroneous understanding of light-source relevance to driver glare.
This proposal (WP.29/2016/18) was adopted by the World Forum. Thirty-four Contracting Parties out of the 43 applying UN R48 were present for the vote by AC.1. Thirty-four voted in favor with zero against and zero abstaining.
