Task Force on Deployable Pedestrian Protection Systems (DPPS)
Reports to GRSP

This task force was established pursuant to a 2016 proposal from Korea to develop test procedures for the assessment of “deployable systems of the outer surface of vehicles”, such as active bonnets and possibly other countermeasures (e.g., pillar airbags) to mitigate injury risks to pedestrians in an impact with a vehicle. The intent is to develop an amendment to GTR No. 9 (and by consequence, UN R127). The original request for authorization was submitted to the November WP.29 session (document WP.29/2016/115).
