Document presenting transitional provisions for UN R86 covering the 01, 02, and 03 series of amendments. For the 01 series: Contracting Parties shall not refuse type approvals as amended by the 01 series from its entry into force; from 24 months after entry into force, shall grant approvals only to vehicles meeting 01 series requirements; shall not refuse extensions of existing approvals; shall not refuse national or regional type approval of vehicles approved to the preceding series until 24 months after entry into force; and are not obliged to accept preceding series approvals from 24 months after entry into force. For the 02 series: Contracting Parties shall not refuse type approvals as amended by the 02 series from its entry into force; are not obliged to accept 01 series approvals first issued after 1 January 2023; shall accept 01 series approvals first issued before 1 January 2023 until 1 January 2025; are not obliged to accept 01 series approvals from 1 January 2025; may grant approvals according to any preceding series; and shall continue to grant extensions to any preceding series. For the 03 series: Contracting Parties shall not refuse type approvals as amended by the 03 series from its entry into force; are not obliged to accept preceding series approvals first issued after 1 September 2028; shall accept preceding series approvals first issued before 1 September 2028 until 1 September 2030; are not obliged to accept preceding series approvals and extensions from 1 September 2030; shall continue to accept preceding series approvals for vehicle types not affected by 03 series changes; may grant approvals according to any preceding series; and shall continue to grant extensions to any preceding series.
