DDADWS informal group: Proposal to update the terms of reference

Proposal to extend the mandate of the DDADWS informal group until October 2028 to enable development of new (01) series of amendments to the original texts of the driver drowsiness and driver distraction warning systems regulations.

44. The expert from OICA, Secretary of the IWG on Driver Distraction and Drowsiness Warning Systems (DDADWS), presented the status report of the IWG (GRSG-131-02) and the revised Terms of Reference (ToR) of the group (GRSG-131-03). He informed GRSG of the revised roadmap, under which the IWG will finalise a new series of a UN Regulation on Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning (DDAW) systems, followed by preparatory work towards a regulation on Advanced Driver Distraction Warning (ADDW) systems, not expected to start before mid-2027. According to the updated timeline, the 01 series of amendments is planned to be submitted for adoption at the 136th session of GRSG in October 2028.
45. GRSG adopted the revised Terms of Reference of the IWG (GRSG-131-03) and agreed to annex them to the report.
