UN R90: Proposal for a Supplement 13 to the 02 series of amendments

Proposal improve consistency in the bedding/burnishing procedure and to align the Communication Form with that of other UN Regulations and, pursuant to changing the application of the Unique Identifier (UI) under the 1958 Agreement, to the prohibition on use of the UI for replacement brake components under UN R90 due to the decision to change the default application of the UI to prohibited unless specified.

77. During the consultations, the experts reviewed the proposal tabled by the expert from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to include in the communication form the description of the burnishing procedure used during the type-approval tests. The experts reviewed the proposal tabled by the expert from the Netherlands (Kingdom of) following the recommendation of the IWG on DETA to remove the Unique Identifier.

78. GRVA adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/35 (supplements to 01 and 02 series) and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/36 (supplement to the 02 series) and requested the secretariat to submit them to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration and vote in November 2025.

78. The World Forum considered draft amendments under agenda items 4.10.1 and 4.10.9 recommended their submission to AC.1 for voting, with the following amendments:

  1. In ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/139, title, for “Supplement 13” read Supplement 12”,
  2. In ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/140, title, for “Supplement 12” read Supplement 13”,
  3. In ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/142, Appendix 1 to Annex 1, line before “Manufacturer Name”, introduce an item to read: “UN Regulation No. 156 series of amendments number:” and in Annex 4, for “provisions of Regulation No. [this Regulation]” read “provisions of the 01 series of amendments to Regulation No. 156.”

With 37 of the 50 Contracting Parties applying UN R90 present and voting, AC.1 adopted document WP.29/2025/140, as amended by para. 70 (b) per the session report, by a vote of 37 in favor, 0 opposed, with 0 abstaining.
