88. The secretary of WP.1 informed the World Forum that this matter had been considered by WP.1 at its September 2010 session (ECE/TRANS/WP.1/129). He reported that WP.1 had invited a small (virtual) group of experts, consisting of experts from France, Germany, Russian Federation and Spain to consider the obligation of the drivers to remain in control of the vehicle, as provided by the Vienna Convention, which conflicts with the technologies permitted by the Regulations developed by the World Forum. It was noted that a GRE informal group on the Vienna Convention was also working on a proposal for amendments to the Vienna Convention regarding lighting issues (WP.29–152–10). This proposal will be finalized and submitted to WP.29 for its approval in March 2011 for its subsequent transmission to WP.1.

89. WP.29 agreed to keep this item on the agenda of its further sessions to keep delegates informed on the outcome of the next meeting of WP.1.
