Amendment notifications Tweet

The office of the UN Secretary-General has issued depositary notifications for the regulations, amendments, and supplements adopted by the World Forum during its November 2015 session. With one exception, Contracting Parties have until 18 June 2016 to reject their application before the changes enter into force.

The one exception concerns the new UN Regulation on frontal impact with a focus on the restraint system (i.e., the new full width rigid barrier test). This new regulation (document WP.29/2015/105) will be considered binding on all Contracting Parties to the 1958 Agreement that do not signal otherwise before 9 June 2016.

Please keep in mind that these are the dates for the entry into force of the documents and not necessarily for the date from which manufacturers will have to comply with the new requirements in order to receive type approval certifications. The timing for the application of any new requirements for the purposes of receiving type-approval certification can be found in the “transitional provisions” paragraphs (if any) of each series of amendments or regulation.
