The AECS informal group was established following the June 2013 session of the World Forum to develop uniform requirements for post-accident in-vehicle emergency communications systems. The objective is to establish performance requirements, including a “minimum data set”, to promote the development of effective means to communicate critical information to first-responders. The regulation will not address communication standards or telecommunication infrastructure (such as GPS systems) questions.
The AECS group aims to submit a completed draft regulation for review by the Working Party on General Safety at its October 2014 session.
