8. The expert of IWG SLR presented draft amendments to UN Regulations Nos. 148, 149 and 150 that introduce summary documents to be placed in the electronic Database for the Exchange of Type Approval documentation (DETA) to support the use of the Unique Identifier (UI) (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2022/10, ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2022/11 and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2022/12). GRE pointed out that a template summary document should be developed by IWG DETA and endorsed by WP.29. Awaiting WP.29 and/or IWG DETA guidance on the matter, GRE decided to continue consideration at the next session.
9. GRE noted that the use of UI for a particular UN Regulation should only be possible when the following two conditions are met: - the corresponding summary document has been defined in the Regulation; and
- DETA is providing access to the Summary Document.
10. To stress these requirements, the expert from EC proposed an amendment (GRE-87-24-Rev.1). GRE adopted the proposal and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the March 2023 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as a draft Supplement to the 00 and 01 series of amendments to UN Regulations Nos. 148, 149 and 150.
11. In the context of possible replacement of traditional approval markings by UI, the expert from CITA presented a proposal with the aim to ensure the availability of sufficient information on the device for periodic and roadside inspections (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2022/13 and GRE-87-07). GRE agreed to revert to this proposal at the next session.

The expert from GTB tabled a proposal for amendments to UN Regulations Nos. 48 and 149 that extended the possibility of projecting driver assistance symbols and patterns to passing-beam headlamps of adaptive front-lighting systems (AFS) (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2022/21, as amended by GRE-87-30). GRE agreed to modify the beginning of paragraph 5.35.3. to read “Neither flashing nor transforming of …”. The expert from France proposed modifying the speed limit, in conjunction with ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2023/8 (see the next paragraph). The expert from Japan sought a proof that this pattern would not negatively affect other road users. The Chair invited GTB to liaise with Japan on this matter.
25. The expert from GTB proposed amendments that extend the possibility to project driver assistance symbols and patterns to the passing-beam headlamps of adaptive front-lighting systems (AFS). These amendments were accompanied by a corresponding amendment to UN Regulation No. 149 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2023/8 and GRE-88-25-Rev.1). GRE adopted the proposals, as laid down in GRE-88-25-Rev.1, and requested the secretariat to submit them for consideration and vote at the November 2023 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as draft Supplement 2 to the 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149, part of draft Supplement 19 to the 06 series of amendments, part of draft Supplement 6 to the 07 series of amendments and part of draft Supplement 4 to the 08 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 48.

9. The expert from IWG SLR presented a draft new series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 148 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/13, GRE-85-03 and GRE-85-13). The expert from IEC proposed updating the references to standard IEC 60809 (GRE-85-09). GRE adopted the proposal, as amended by GRE-85-09 and GRE-85-13, and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as draft 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 148.
12. The expert from IWG SLR introduced a proposal for a new series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14, GRE-85-04 and GRE-85-14). The expert from IEC proposed updating the references to standard IEC 60809 (GRE-85-09). GRE adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14, as amended by GRE-85-09 and GRE-85-14, and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as draft 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149.
13. For reasons mentioned at the previous session (GRE-84-28), the expert from Poland was not in a position to support the IWG SLR proposal. GRE also recalled the alternative transitional provision in GRE-85-30 and requested IWG SLR to consider it and to report back to GRE at its next session in April 2022 (see paragraph 10 above).
14. The expert from Germany wondered if it would be acceptable to drive, for a limited time, with one headlamp (passing beam) of the matched pair, as defined in paragraph 4.18. of ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14. He recalled that, under the current requirements for periodical technical inspections in the European Union (e.g. paragraph. 4.1.1 (a) of directive 2014/45/EU), a non-working headlamp was a minor defect which would not impede passing the inspection. He added that footnote (a) to paragraph 5.2.2. in ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14 might lead to an expectation that, in the worst-case scenario with one remaining headlamp of the matched pair, only 50 per cent of luminous intensity would be reached in some elements instead of 100 per cent for one headlamp. According to the expert, this could affect the assessment of roadside inspections and periodical technical inspections. GRE requested IWG SLR to address the question raised by the expert from Germany.
27. GRE stressed that the adopted amendments to UN Regulations Nos. 48, 53, 74, 86, 148, 149 and 150, as reflected in paragraphs 9, 12, 15, 17, 20, 23–26, 31 and 33, should be submitted as a package to the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1. GRE agreed to review these proposals at its next session in April 2022.
30. The expert of GTB introduced an updated proposal with the aim to allow for projection of driver assistance symbols, on the road ahead of the vehicle, as part of the adaptive driving beam. This proposal was submitted in a package with an amendment to UN Regulation No. 149 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/18, GRE-85-20). The experts from Japan and SAE suggested several modifications (GRE-85-25 and GRE-85-32). The expert from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland pointed out challenges for the type approval authorities when approving the driver assistance projections.
31. GRE adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/18, as amended by GRE-85-33 and subject to removal of square brackets, and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as part of draft Supplement 16 to the 06 series of amendments, of draft Supplement 3 to the 07 series of amendments, of draft Supplement 1 to the 08 series of amendments and of the draft 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149.
