9. The expert from IWG SLR presented a draft new series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 148 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/13, GRE-85-03 and GRE-85-13). The expert from IEC proposed updating the references to standard IEC 60809 (GRE-85-09). GRE adopted the proposal, as amended by GRE-85-09 and GRE-85-13, and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as draft 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 148.
12. The expert from IWG SLR introduced a proposal for a new series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14, GRE-85-04 and GRE-85-14). The expert from IEC proposed updating the references to standard IEC 60809 (GRE-85-09). GRE adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14, as amended by GRE-85-09 and GRE-85-14, and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as draft 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149.
13. For reasons mentioned at the previous session (GRE-84-28), the expert from Poland was not in a position to support the IWG SLR proposal. GRE also recalled the alternative transitional provision in GRE-85-30 and requested IWG SLR to consider it and to report back to GRE at its next session in April 2022 (see paragraph 10 above).
14. The expert from Germany wondered if it would be acceptable to drive, for a limited time, with one headlamp (passing beam) of the matched pair, as defined in paragraph 4.18. of ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14. He recalled that, under the current requirements for periodical technical inspections in the European Union (e.g. paragraph. 4.1.1 (a) of directive 2014/45/EU), a non-working headlamp was a minor defect which would not impede passing the inspection. He added that footnote (a) to paragraph 5.2.2. in ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14 might lead to an expectation that, in the worst-case scenario with one remaining headlamp of the matched pair, only 50 per cent of luminous intensity would be reached in some elements instead of 100 per cent for one headlamp. According to the expert, this could affect the assessment of roadside inspections and periodical technical inspections. GRE requested IWG SLR to address the question raised by the expert from Germany.
15. GRE addressed a proposal for a new 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 150 that was prepared by IWG SLR ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/15 and GRE-85-05). GRE adopted the proposal, as amended by GRE-85-15, and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as draft 01 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 150. GRE recalled the alternative transitional provision in GRE-85-30 and requested IWG SLR to consider it and to report back to GRE at its next session in April 2022 (see paragraph 10 above).
27. GRE stressed that the adopted amendments to UN Regulations Nos. 48, 53, 74, 86, 148, 149 and 150, as reflected in paragraphs 9, 12, 15, 17, 20, 23–26, 31 and 33, should be submitted as a package to the June 2022 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1. GRE agreed to review these proposals at its next session in April 2022.

10. The expert from EC held the view that contracting parties should not be obliged to indefinitely accept type approvals issued to the preceding series of amendments. To introduce a deadline for such acceptance, he proposed an alternative transitional provision (GRE-85-30). Some GRE experts pointed out that the installation UN Regulations Nos. 48, 53, 74 and 86 would be more appropriate for that purpose, rather than the device UN Regulations Nos. 148, 149 and 150. GRE requested IWG SLR to consider the issue and to report back to GRE at its next session in April 2022.
12. The expert from IWG SLR introduced a proposal for a new series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 149 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2021/14, GRE-85-04 and GRE-85-14). 23. The expert of GTB tabled a proposal which allowed for projection of driver assistance symbols on the road ahead of the vehicle, as part of the adaptive driving beam (ADB). This proposal was submitted in a package with an amendment to UN Regulation No. 149 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2020/4 and GRE-83-30). The expert from OICA presented supporting material for the proposal (GRE-83-33 and GRE-83-34), while the experts from Japan expressed concerns identified in the course of their own study (GRE-83-49). Other experts also expressed various views and concerns, such as the need for possible restrictions and standardization of the projected symbols, and that distraction must be avoided. Based on the comments received and pending further studies on the issue, GRE requested GTB to submit a revised document to the next session and invited all interested parties to contribute. Meanwhile, GRE asked the expert from Finland to liaise with the Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG) which had established a Task Force on Field of Vision Assistant.
21. The expert of GTB introduced revised proposals for amendments to UN Regulations Nos. 48 and 149 on road projections of driver assistance symbols as well as supporting material (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2020/4/Rev.1, GRE-84-24, GRE-84-25, GRE-84-26, GRE-84-27 and GRE-84-38-Rev.1). During an in-depth discussion, experts from Contracting Parties generally supported the concept but expressed several concerns over the proposed technical requirements. The expert from Japan presented their list of outstanding issues (GRE-84-36).
22. GRE requested GTB and OICA to liaise with all experts concerned with the aim to submit a revised proposal to the next session. GRE also invited other experts from Contracting Parties to send their comments to GTB and OICA and to take part in preparatory online meetings to be organized by GTB.
