Propose a new scheme of approval for Retreaded snow tyres for use in severe snow conditions

ETRTO detected an issue in document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2022/7 with the insertion of paragraph 3.5.1. that is the consequence of the alignment between UN Regulation No. 54 and UN Regulation No. 109. This new requirement regarding the marking position in the sidewall for retreaded tyres is creating a burden for the retread industry that will potentially need to adapt all their moulds accordingly, without considering transitional provisions.

Proposal to align the provisions for retreaded tyres with parallel proposals for UN R54 and UN R117 and to cover all the tread materials and to allow upgrading of the service description of a used casing subject to meeting conditions for traceability.

Presentation of outcomes from a GRBP group of interested experts formed to consider contents of documents GRBP-73-21, GRBP/2021/16, and GRBP-75-14.

Proposal to ensure that the test procedures for retreaded tyres are aligned with the text adopted by WP.29 per document WP.29/2021/8 for UN R117.

The prescription given in paragraph 3.5.2., which will be implemented through document WP.29/2022/7/Rev.1 adopted by WP.29, contradicts the previously existing prescription in paragraph 3.2.9. This proposal aims to resolve the contradiction by amending paragraph 3.5.2. to introduce a reference to the prescriptions given in paragraph 3.2.9.
