This proposal clarifies that the provisions concern any cable used in the entire vehicle, not only to those in the interior compartment, engine compartment and separate heater compartment. The proposal also clarifies that the regulation applies not only to electric cables, but also to cable sleeves or cable conduits and it updates the reference to paragraph 5.22. of ISO 6722-1:2011. Specifically, the proposal would apply testing to electric cables, cable sleeves, and cable conduits that exceed a length of 100 mm.

The proposal adds new requirements for cable sleeves and conduits, modifies vertical testing requirements under Annex 8 to allow testing of small test samples and to clarify their fixation to the specimen holder, and adds a new Annex 10 on provisions for testing of electrical cables.

The definition replaced the term “roof” by “ceiling” in reference to the upper boundary surface of the compartment definition; however, the change in terminology was not reflected throughout the rest of the text. This proposal corrects that omission.

|
83. The World Forum considered draft amendments under agenda items 4.8.1 to 4.8.4. and recommended their submission to AC.1 for voting.
84. The Chair of GRSG presented draft amendment proposals contained in documents ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2021/23, ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2021/24, ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2021/25, ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2021/26 and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2021/27, under agenda items 4.8.6 to 4.8.9., to amend UN Regulations Nos. 18, 97, 116, 107 and 118. The World Forum recommended their submission to AC.1 for voting.
17. The Chair of GRSG invited the expert from OICA to give her presentation. The expert from OICA recalled that at the 183rd session of WP.29, document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2021/27 which is a Proposal for the 04 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 118 (Burning behaviour of materials) was adopted. She further recalled at the document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2021/3 which is a Proposal for Supplement 2 to the 03 series of amendments and Supplement 5 to the 02 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 118 was adopted at 121st session of GRSG and forwarded to the 185th session of WP.29 for voting. The expert from OICA clarified from GRSG if the supplement to the 02 and 05 series of amendment of UN Regulation No. 118 would be added to the 04 series of amendment assuming it is adopted by WP.29.
18. The secretariat explained, that if the 04 series of amendments have been entered into force, while the 02 and 03 series of amendment are yet to be adopted by WP.29, then an informal document will need to be submitted by OICA at the ongoing session (122nd) GRSG. He further explained that this informal document can be reviewed as a formal document at the 123rd session of GRSG provided the 02 and 03 series are adopted at the 185th session of WP.29.
19. The expert from OICA presented document GRSG-122-40, Proposal for Supplement 1 to the 04 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 118 (Burning behaviour of materials).
20. GRSG adopted GRSG-122-40 and requested its submission as a formal document for review in the 123rd session of GRSG in March 2022.
